Jean will be laid to rest in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Archdale. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro.
Jean was the 10th of 12 children born to Malcolm and Laura Putnam on September 13th 1938 in Cleveland County, NC.
Growing up, Jean spent her time picking cotton, learning to cook and bringing lots of laughter and fun to her family and friends.
In 1956, at the age of 18 she came to Greensboro with $20 in her pocket. She quickly got a job working at Jefferson Pilot Insurance Company, based on her winning personality and her ability to pick north of 300lbs of cotton on a good day.
Jean married Charles Bozovich and they had two sons. Jean was a wonderfully loving and supportive mom to Daryl and Phillip.
Jean found a perfect career working for Century 21 Elliott properties as a real estate agent where she was able to put her “never met a stranger” attitude and love of helping people to good use.
Jean met and fell in love with Raymond Farabee and married in 1986. They were married for 25 years until Raymond’s death in 2011. With her marriage to Raymond, her family grew by 3 step sons, Leo, Steve and Joe, their spouses and children. Jean was a shining light in her family, constantly bringing joy through games, loads of TLC, and delicious cooking to every family gathering.
Jean loved the Lord and was an active member of Ebeneezer United Methodist Church in her later years. Singing in the choir, visiting the elderly and sick and cooking Sunday lunches for their pastors was an expression of her servant heart.
Jean loved shopping, traveling, baking incredible cakes, playing horseshoes and bingo, telling jokes, and spending time with those she loved. She was proud she could quote all the books of the bible and many poems she learned as a school girl well into her later years. She loved her dog Princess who provided great company after Raymond’s death.
Jean was delightful; always looked on the bright side and will be dearly missed until we are reunited again.
Jean is survived by her sister Diane Padgett, many beloved nieces and nephews, her sons Daryl Bozovich and wife Emily, Phillip Bozovich and wife Michelle, Leo Farabee and wife Peggy, Tina Farabee, Joe Farabee and wife Alice, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
