Mrs. Williams will lie in repose from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel location. Interment will follow the service at Guilford Memorial Park.
Grace was born on September 11, 1922 in North Wilkesboro, to the late Zoa and Alma Blackburn Myers. After moving to Greensboro, she met and married Vernon Williams, a union that lasted for 63 years. As a pastor’s wife, Grace was able to travel to many parts of the world on mission trips. Her love for the Lord was very important in her life and spent her later years listening to gospel music on a daily basis when unable to attend her church that she loved, Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. Grace was a quick witted woman who was always bringing a smile to our face. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. We will forever miss her and her sweet smile and sense of humor that brightened the days of so many.
She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Rev. Dr. Vernon Williams; parents; brothers, Johnny and Clyde Myers; sisters, Mary Oxendine, Ruby Byrd and Jesse Adams.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Vinnon Williams and wife, Gloria of Lexington; Art Williams of Winston Salem; Karon W. Whitaker and husband, Bobby of Pleasant Garden; grandchildren; Chad Williams (Brooke), Telly Gaines (David), Julie Robbins; great grandchildren, Cpl. Sebron Gaines (USMC), Ireland Gaines, Lane Whitaker, Cassie and Austin Robbins, Anden and Braden Williams; sister, Maxine Ridge; sister-in-law, Norma Myers; brother-in-law, Rex Adams; and numerous other loving extended family members.
Vinnon and Karon would like to thank their brother Art, for his love, care, devotion and sacrifices that he made over three years. With your care, we were given more time to spend with and enjoy Mom. Our hearts will be indebted to you for all you did to keep Mom comfortable and happy.
The family would like to sincerely thank Brenda Hairston for her kindness, care and support shown to our Mom. You’ll never know how much we appreciated you.
In memory of our Mom, we ask that you do a random act of kindness for someone. Other contributions in her memory may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home of Winston Salem, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
