Grover Cleveland Wood Jr.

Grover Cleveland “Sunny” Wood Jr., 81, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his residence. He was born on August 19, 1937 in Surry County, NC, the son of Grover Cleveland Wood Sr. and Mary Brooks Wood. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He is a member of Cedar Square Friends Meeting. He retired from Lucent Technologies Inc. with 30 years of service. He played bass guitar with his band, The Golden Boys, and loved playing gospel and country music. He was a former member of the Lions Club and the Tanglefoots Square Dance Club. He will be deeply missed.

Sunny is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sybil P. Wood of the home; son Ronnie Lane Wood and wife Karen of Pleasant Garden, NC; daughter, Jeannine Marie Wood and fiancé Amos Ferguson of Kernersville, NC; Grandchildren Casey Wood and fiancé Jason Clodfelter, Ryan Wood and wife Candace, Damian Breedlove, Amiyah Wood, Aubrie Wood, Sharon Baysinger and husband Bruce, Kimberly Coble and fiancé Charles Lewis. Great Grandchildren Robert Wood, Lily Clodfelter, Wyatt Wood, Willow Clodfelter, Dylan Coble, Ashlyn Baysinger, Kailyn Baysinger, and Christopher Lewis.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, 11:00 a.m.at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
