

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 21 at 2 pm at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 3235 Yanceyville Street with Pastors David Surrett and Hank Moffitt officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 20 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N. Elm Street, Greensboro.
Harold was born in Guilford County in 1933 to Starks E. and Lula M. Wheeler. He graduated from Rankin High School and attended Guilford College. He retired from the City of Greensboro after 38 years of service, most notably as the assistant manager of the Coliseum and the manager of Bryan Park Enrichment Center.
Harold was a Veteran of the Korean War, having served as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church and also a member of several area civic groups including the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Buena Vista Lodge No. 21, American Legion Post 386, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was on the Board of Directors at Guilford County Fire Station #13.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brothers J.D., Cordell and Boyd Wheeler.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Coe Wheeler and his daughters Cynthia Hipp (Kevin) of Browns Summit, Rhonda Kennedy (John) of Wake Forest and Lisa Andreoli (Chris) of Pleasant Garden and by his grandchildren Kyle, Katie and Ryan Hipp, Brad and Blair Kennedy and Meghan and Kristen Andreoli and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church Building Fund.
