Harriett Wade Bowles, 94, of Greensboro, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, November 14, 2025. She was born in Roxboro, NC to the late Benjamin Franklin Wade and Hattie Johnson Wade.
She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Greensboro and enjoyed visiting Christ United Methodist Church as well.
She was a school teacher for over 37 years, almost entirely in kindergarten. She continued to teach another 4 years working with the state of North Carolina to build early education programs.
Harriett is predeceased by her husband of 39 years Denis M. Bowles and siblings Myron Eugene Wade and Benjamin F. Wade, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory include her children: Denis M. “Matt” Bowles, Jr., Barbara B. Armeniox (Joey), Grandchildren: Amber Bowles Houchins (Mac), Great-Grandchildren: John “Jack” Brady (Serena), Shelby Brady, Great Great Grandchildren: Waylon and Clementine, a cousin and many nieces, nephews and bonus Great-Grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 pm, Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Christ United Methodist Church in the Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Morris Brown. The address is 410 North Holden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.
The family would like to thank AuthoraCare Hospice (Greensboro Office) for all their compassionate care and support. We would also like to thank our four special caregivers who took care of our mom. Cynthia Westery, Audrey Watkins, Tameika Morris and Janet Whitesell. These ladies are professional, caring individuals, and we were very blessed and thankful they were available to care for mom during this time. We would like to thank Christ United Methodist Church and Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home on North Elm Street for their assistance and guidance with the service.
