Harry “Bub” Lewis Brandon, 95, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Moses H. Cone Hospital. Harry was born May 3, 1926 in Guilford County, NC to William “Willie” O. Brandon, Sr. and Bonnie Lowdermilk Brandon – both passing when Harry was a young adult.
Harry was the middle of 3 siblings, having a brother and a sister. He was a graduate of Greensboro High School (now Grimsley High). Harry was a US Navy veteran having served during WWII and the Korean War. He worked 37 years for Southern Bell (both in NC and FL) before retiring. Harry was a lover of golf and enjoyed playing the game as often as he could.
Harry was married to Barbara “Bobbie” Adams Brandon of Greensboro…a marriage that lasted 66 years until Bobbie’s passing in 2017. Their children are: Debra Brandon George, Eric Brandon, and Kerri Brandon Greeson – all of Greensboro. Left also to cherish Harry’s memory are his grandchildren: Erin George Broderick (Brian) of Vero Beach, FL and Peter George of Raleigh. There are also 3 great-grandchildren whom Harry enjoyed: Sophia Broderick, Brice Broderick, and Brayden Broderick. Harry leaves behind his younger sister, Eloise Brandon Morgan of Greensboro, and he was preceded in death by his older brother, William “Bill” O. Brandon, Jr. (2016). Harry also leaves many nieces and nephews who have fond/loving memories of him.
Harry and his wife, Bobbie, were longtime, active/serving members of South Miami Church of Christ in Miami, FL as well as a long span at Friendly Avenue Church of Christ in Greensboro. In fact, he was the oldest living member of FACC. Harry served as an elder for the FACC congregation for many years. He was admired by and inspired so many people throughout his life!
The family will receive family/friends on Monday, October 25, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 26, at Guilford Memorial Park (same address). Military Honors will be presented by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
