

Mr. Harry Lee Scoggins, 80, a resident of Greensboro died Friday October 29, 2010. Mr. Scoggins was born May 27, 1930 in Guilford Co., a son of Charlie Henry Herman and Jon Laura Isley Scoggins. He was a veteran of the US Army. For over 56 years Mr. Scoggins was a truck driver with the last 20 years driving for Best Cartage.
Mr. Scoggins was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Howard Lewis Scoggins.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Shirley Wise Scoggins and together this November 19th would have been their 56th wedding anniversary. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Della Scoggins of Greensboro, Myra S. Avant and husband Billy of Greensboro; three sisters, Irene Bradsher and Ada Mae Eanes and husband Tommy Joe all of Burlington, Becky Clark and husband Barry of Greensboro; one brother, Vance Scoggins and wife Ruby of Burlington; four grandchildren, Ronnie Collie and wife Cora, Bobby Collie and wife Megan, Alex Key, Laura Lee Tilley and husband Michael; six great grandchildren, Preston Collie, Julius Collie, Alyssa Collie, Ivana Krysiak, Cameron Tilley and Bobby and Megan Collie’s soon to be born child and Harry’s faithful canine companion, “Peaches”.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407 conducted by the Reverend Dr. Adrian Harris and Pastor Rick Brooks. Interment with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank Dr. Urbanic, Dr. Squires and Dr. Chan at the Cancer Center at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and Hospice of Greensboro for the care given and shown to Mr. Scoggins.
