Greensboro-Mrs. Helen “Hoppy” McDaniel Faucett, 92, was reunited with her husband and her Savior on September 21, 2013. Graveside services will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, September 24, at Lakeview Memorial Park with Reverend Burley Moore officiating.
She was born in Guilford County, the oldest of eight children to Neil and Annie Mills McDaniel. She was of the Baptist faith. In 1942 she married John Benjamin Faucett and enjoyed 63 years together until his death in 2005. Hoppy worked as a weaver at Cone Mills and at Blue Belle, but the work that brought her the most joy was taking care of children in her home. She became a second mother to so many through the years. She was a wonderful caregiver and had a heart for serving others. No act of helping someone was too small or insignificant to Hoppy. She loved her family and was always there for them, taking special care to make sure her granddaughter and great granddaughter were spoiled with love and treats. Hoppy was a talented and gifted seamstress and quilter and enjoyed working in her yard.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Penny Perdue; granddaughter, Judy Rena Perdue and great granddaughter, Annie Perdue all of Sophia; sister, Dot Barley of Greensboro; and a large extended family. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by six siblings.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association or to Gateway Education Center, 3205 E. Wendover Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405. On line condolences may be made to www.haneslineberryfuneralhomes.com. Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield chapel is honored to serve the Faucett family.
