He attended NC State University graduating in 1966 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity throughout his college years. Henry remained a loyal NC State fan to the present. Upon graduation, Henry was employed at United Aircraft in West Palm Beach, Florida. Later, he was transferred to United Aircraft in East Hartford, CT. Nine years later, moving back to North Carolina and becoming employed with Duke Energy, where he worked until retirement in 2010. Henry was a member of the Y’s Men Club in Eden, NC and also an active member of the Church of Epiphany while living in Eden.
Henry was a devoted family man. He was an active father and grandfather. He left a legacy of being loving and kind, as well as, strong and a man of honor and integrity. He lived his life by not only talking the talk, but also walking the walk. He will always be loved and remembered by all who knew him.
Henry was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Fort Buchelli. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Brenda M. Fort; daughters, Megan Fort Barrow and husband John E. and Leslie Fort Huber. Henry is grandfather to seven grandchildren; Devin, Alex, Chloe, Elena, Sophia, Lily and Tyson. He is also survived by his sisters; Anita Ferdico and Janis Singletary.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23rd, 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church with Rev. Michael Moulden officiating, Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a cancer research of choice.
