A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2018, 1:00 p.m., at Guilford College United Methodist Church. Special music will begin at 12:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Westminster Gardens.
Hank was born July 31, 1941 in Columbia, SC, the son of Henry Clifton Norris and Eloise Bailey Norris.
Hank was a veteran of the US Navy. He retired from Sears after 35 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Church and was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather. Hank genuinely loved all people. He enjoyed nurturing children by organizing the neighborhood football games, taking the kids to movies and making sure everyone was included. He was a wonderful mentor to so many. Hank will be remembered for his compassion for all people, especially those less fortunate, as well as his good hearted humor, always joking and teasing those he loved. He was an avid reader, gifted writer and a wonderful storyteller. Hank loved music and was a huge Rolling Stones fan. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed lifeguarding, golfing, skiing and playing tennis. Hank had a gift for making everyone feel special. His positivity and love of life was infectious. He will be dearly missed but his beautiful spirit will endure.
In addition to his parents, Hank was preceded in death by his brother David.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 54 years, Joyce Norris; daughter, Lisa Donato (Anthony) of Summerfield; brothers, Frank Norris (Mackey) of Columbia, SC, John Norris (Laura) of Orlando, FL and Charles Norris (Susan) of Charleston, SC; sister in law, Chris Barnes (Robert) of Greensboro; and his cherished grandchildren, Blake, Caroline, Livia and Sophia Donato; many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel.
