A memorial service will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., at West Market Street United Methodist Church. A reception will follow the service in the church gathering space. Friends will also be received Monday, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel.
Skipper was born January 2, 1933 in Greensboro, the son of Herbert Weaver Meade and Annie Mae Huffling Meade.
Skipper was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He was employed by Southern Bell for 35 years. Skipper was a member of West Market Street United Methodist Church as well as the Elks Lodge #602. He enjoyed raising horses through the years as well as hunting and fishing. Most of all, Skipper enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Skipper was preceded in death by his nephew, Eddie Meade.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janis Meade; daughter, Christina Gainor (Jacob) of Raleigh; son, James Meade of Greensboro; brother, Edwin Meade (Betty) of Greensboro; grandchildren, Elijah, Lucas and Liam Meade and Will, Adeline and Anna Gainor; niece, Betsy Leatherman (Ronnie) of Greensboro.
