A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Hane-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, after the committal service.
Mr. Strader was born in Greensboro on April 29, 1917, to the late Galveston and Mattie Strader. He was a life-long member of College Place United Methodist Church and a member of the Greensboro Kiwanis Club. Herbert graduated from Greensboro High School and retired as President of Yancey Investment Company. He also was owner of Oakhurst Assisted Living for 30 years. Herbert was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. He loved baseball and was good enough to have played professionally but, he chose to go to work to support his new bride so they could start a family together. Herbert and his wife enjoyed traveling and watching baseball games. He was very active in his church and community back in the day and even when he moved to Friends Home West he remained very active.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Phillip Strader and his wife Minette of Reidsville; a brother, Frank Strader and his wife Cleo of Pleasant Garden; grandchildren, Eric Strader and his wife Leandra (their son, Colton), Greg Strader and his wife April, (their daughter, Natalie), Aaron Strader, (his daughter, Bailey) and Jesse Melton; along with other extended family and friends.
