Hobert Monroe Matthews

Hobert Monroe Matthews, 82, a resident of Greensboro died Wednesday October 30, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Matthews was born November 15, 1930 in Greensboro, the son of J.M. and Louetta Wade Matthews. He was employed with Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. for over 36 years as a driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Inez Fleck, Violet Davis, Carolyn Fowler and five brothers, William, James, Calvin, Jack "Bud" and Frank Matthews. On February 25,1973 he married the former Martha Sanders who survives of the home. Surviving are his wife Martha S. Matthews; one daughter, Marsha Kabler and husband Glenn of Greensboro; one son, Timothy Matthews and wife Yolanda of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Quinn and Tanner Kabler, Heather Matthews, Timothy Matthews, Jr. and one great granddaughter, Amber Matthews. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Park conducted by Keith Evans. Military Honors will be provided by the Randolph Co. Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Vanstory Chapel on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
