May 20, 1928November 21, 2021

Inez Elledge Jones, 93, of Greensboro, NC passed away on November 21st from natural causes. Inez was born on May 20th, 1928, in Wilkes County, NC to Martha Elzora Blevins Elledge and Eugene Calvin Elledge.

She received a full tuition scholarship to Brevard College and graduated in 1948. She was crowned both May Queen and Miss Brevard. She later pursued a degree in education from High Point College, which she received in 1968. Inez was an educator for ten years before deciding to make a career change. She was a successful real estate broker in Archdale and North Myrtle Beach until moving to Greensboro in 2015 to be close to family.

Inez married Billy Dale Teague in 1951 and had three children: Anita, Bobby and John. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Thomasville, Little River Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach, and Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Singing in the choir brought her a lot of joy.

Inez loved to dance, particularly ballroom. She danced competitively into her 70’s. She was an appreciator of the arts, and picked up oil painting in her late 80’s. She was also an avid reader and natural storyteller. She loved animals, especially her longtime companion, the sweetest little dachshund named Maggie. Inez was preceded in death by husbands Billy, Foyle and Dick, and siblings Faye, Levina, Clifford, Wayne and Vaught. She is survived by brother E.C; children Anita Cranford, Bobby (Kim) and John (Andrea); grandchildren Emily, Wesley (Natasha), Casey, Abby (Clay), Tanner, Jack and Iris; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 27th at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Greensboro, with a reception to follow. The family requests that face masks be worn. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Inez’s favorite causes: Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, ASPCA, ACLU, JDRF, National Autism Association and Urban Ministry.

So sorry to hear of Inez's death. She sang in choir with me at Little River UMC and we enjoyed having her joyful voice! She and I had music in common and I was also in the real estate business. At that time, she was working with Re-Max Southern Shores and I was with Coldwell Banker Chicora. Inez was always cheerful and kind and was always willing to help you. I enjoyed knowing her for 13 years and will miss her beautiful spirit.

I am so sorry for your great loss. Inez and Bill introduced my parents to each other. For that, I will be forever thankful. Visiting in her home when Anita, Bobby, John and I were children was so much fun. Inez made the best oyster stew! Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Love to you all. We had the good fortune of meeting Inez right around she turned 90 before Natasha and Wesley’s wedding. So there was a memorable celebration of her 90th BD when we also had a chance to meet most of rest of the family. She shared her collection of invaluable family pictures spanning the entire 20th century. Coincidently, Kawal shared her 60th with Inez’s 90th. Inez was so full of life , we remember her dance moves at the Sangeet in Cary, age 91! Her progressive values, love and affection will clearly live through her offsprings. RIP
