Inez was born on May 20th, 1928, in Wilkes County, NC to Martha Elzora Blevins Elledge and Eugene Calvin Elledge.
She received a full tuition scholarship to Brevard College and graduated in 1948. She was crowned both May Queen and Miss Brevard. She later pursued a degree in education from High Point College, which she received in 1968. Inez was an educator for ten years before deciding to make a career change. She was a successful real estate broker in Archdale and North Myrtle Beach until moving to Greensboro in 2015 to be close to family.
Inez married Billy Dale Teague in 1951 and had three children: Anita, Bobby and John.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Thomasville, Little River Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach, and Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Singing in the choir brought her a lot of joy.
Inez loved to dance, particularly ballroom. She danced competitively into her 70’s. She was an appreciator of the arts, and picked up oil painting in her late 80’s. She was also an avid reader and natural storyteller. She loved animals, especially her longtime companion, the sweetest little dachshund named Maggie.
Inez was preceded in death by husbands Billy, Foyle and Dick, and siblings Faye, Levina, Clifford, Wayne and Vaught. She is survived by brother E.C; children Anita Cranford, Bobby (Kim) and John (Andrea); grandchildren Emily, Wesley (Natasha), Casey, Abby (Clay), Tanner, Jack and Iris; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 27th at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Greensboro, with a reception to follow. The family requests that face masks be worn.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Inez’s favorite causes: Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, ASPCA, ACLU, JDRF, National Autism Association and Urban Ministry.
