Jack Alva Cleveland, 79, died on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 11:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Fr. James Stuhrenberg officiating.
Born in Selma, California in 1931 to the late Jessie and Alva Cleveland, Jack attended Fresno State University and The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he pursued a degree in physics. He enlisted in the US Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Upon his discharge, he joined the National Security Agency in Washington, DC, where he worked for 36 years. After his retirement, he moved to Greensboro, where he pursued his passion for golf.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Cleveland’ his sons James Cleveland of Greensboro; Jeffrey Cleveland of Ellicott City, Maryland; John Cleveland of Kernersville; and his six grandchildren, Jennifer Cleveland, Andrew Cleveland, Megan Cleveland, Kirsten Cleveland, Jonathan Cleveland, and Caitlin Cleveland.
