
Born in Greensboro, NC on January 28, 1931, Jackie led a long and full life. She graduated from Greensboro (Grimsley) High School and attended Guilford College. In her 20s, Jackie was a flight attendant for Delta Airlines, a career she found both exciting and rewarding. After she married Charles "Charlie" E. Melvin Jr., she became a homemaker. Along with Charlie, Jackie was an active member of the Greensboro community for many years. She was also a longtime member of the First Church of Christ Scientist - Greensboro.
Jackie is survived by her beloved husband, Charlie, daughter, Dana (Jim) of Alexandria, VA, grandsons Grayson (Elizabeth) of Atlantic Beach, FL, Justin (Jordan) of Denver, CO and sister Betty of Westminster, CO. Jackie will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her quick and self-effacing sense of humor.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Beacon Place for their loving and compassionate care in Jackie’s final days.
At Jackie’s request, the family is having a private service to honor her memory.
