James Lee Crabtree, 75, passed away at his residence on March 9, 2020. He was born in Greensboro on March 12, 1944 to the late Charles Lee and Millicent Gardner Crabtree. Jim was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy from 1962-1966 including aboard the destroyer USS Robert K. Huntington. Later he was employed by Frist Union Bank.
After retiring, Jim's passion was volunteering for veteran causes. He frequently drove veterans to the VA Hospital in Durham where he volunteered. Jim enjoyed the community of veterans and his family is thankful to veterans for their community and their service.
Surviving Jim are his brothers, Dean and wife Pam of Colombia, SC and Mike and wife Joyce of Greensboro as well as his nephew and nieces, Ryan Crabtree and wife Margaret, Ashely Crabtree O'Neal and husband Tim of Columbia and Leslie Crabtree Buckner and husband John of Summerfield. He has several great nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at a later date.
