James Davenport Greene, 83, of McLeansville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, after a courageous journey, surrounded by the thoughts, prayers, and love of family and friends.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose kindness and steady presence touched the lives of all who knew him. He cherished time spent with his family and took great pride in the generations that followed him.
An outdoorsman at heart, Jim found joy in woodworking, camping, and spending time in nature. He was a dedicated Scoutmaster for his son's Boy Scout troop for many years, which brought him great joy and had a lasting influence on generations of young men. He also loved RV trips with his wife to St. George Island, Florida, where many treasured memories were made. Whether building something with his hands, enjoying the outdoors, or gathering with loved ones, he lived a life centered on family, hard work, and simple pleasures.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Gail Greene; his daughter, Allyson Greene Edenfield (Keith); and his grandchildren, Ansley Forbes (Zach), Clayton Edenfield (Jenni), Hannah Bassali (Rafy), Sam Greene (Sarah), Lily Coley (Garrison), and Mac Greene.
He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Miller, Mae, and Kit Bassali, and Ozzie and Greer Greene.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Terry Greene; his parents, Walter and Myrle Greene; and his brothers Bob Greene and Billy Greene.
Jim will be remembered for his love of family, his generous spirit, and the example he set through a life well lived. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends and in the countless memories they shared.
