Many of us got to know Jim and enjoy his companionship playing golf with the Dewsweeper’s at Stoney Creek Golf Club. He was one of the nicest people you’d ever meet and was fun to joke around with. He was known for hitting down the middle, being a tough competitor and his usual hot dog with mustard and a beer after the round. He will be very much missed by his Dewsweeper golfing buddies.

Jim was one of the most fantastic people we have known. Many wonderful memories living next door to him in Darien. Helping cook our food on the grill and fun nights by the pool.

“Jim was the best friend I ever had...” - Jim Griggs
He was truly a gentleman, kind, and always asking about our families. However, he also had the sharpest wit we’ve ever experienced. We will miss him at our dinners, at the golf course, and in our lives....

Our heart aches to hear of the passing of James so suddenly. He was one of the nicest people we had ever met. It was always such a pleasure seeing you on a weekly basis at Mediterraneo over the last 12 years with Nancy that you are practically family to all of us. We are saddened that you are no longer with us and will definitely miss seeing that smile you always had on your face. Our sincere condolences go out to the whole family, Nancy and their children the most. May you Rest In Peace and be in a better place.

Jim will always be remembered as a wonderful person. Loving family. We went on different vacations especially the Outer Banks walking the beaches, cooking dinner , dining out and of course Don and Jim went golfing. We also went to dinner at Tufano’s in Chicago for dinner with Lois (Jim’s Mom) we had a really good time. Nan was out of town missed her. We went out to dinner many times through our forty plus years of friendship. Jim spent time with Eric in Indian Guides, Golf and many school events. He was always a wonderful Dad! We will miss him terribly but his memories will always bring warm memories. Many Blessings to all.

Jim was a great friend, golf buddy, golf partner and always a gentleman. He shared stories with me about his family and his pride in all of his family members. All of us at Stoney Creek will miss Jim and the pleasure of spending 3 hours and 15 minutes with him on the course.

We are so very sorry to learn of Jim’s passing.
We knew Jim from playing golf at Stoney Creek. He was such a gentleman and always made us smile when we saw him on the putting green. Kathy is from Chicago and always enjoyed discussing the outlook for the Cubs and/or Blackhawk season with Jim. Our condolences for the Pratt family.
