Born on March 24, 1936, he lived a life marked by devotion to God, deep love for his family, and faithful service to others. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and James Melvin Radford, Sr., and his beloved sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Scarboro and Elizabeth “Lib” Hales. He is survived by his brother, Robert Earl Radford; by his wife of more than 47 years, Louise Radford, whom he loved with steadfast devotion; and by his sons: Daniel Radford and his wife Megan, parents to Rebekah and Daniel Jr.; Adam Radford, father to Lauren, Ada, Brody, and Daxton; and Andrew Radford and his wife Morgan.
Jim always wanted a family, and God graciously fulfilled that desire beyond measure. He was a proud and loving father to his sons, and he delighted in his grandchildren. His love for his family was evident in his words, his actions, his prayers for their lives, and the many lessons he taught them along the way.
A faithful patriot, Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Washington, D.C., during the Korean War. Following his military service, he spent much of his working life in retail management, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady leadership.
Jim was a devoted member of South Elm Street Baptist Church, where he lived his faith out daily. He loved serving the Lord and was known as a dedicated Sunday School teacher and a faithful prayer warrior, always lifting others before the throne of grace. His quiet faith and consistent prayers left an eternal impact on many lives.
Jim found great joy in the outdoors. He loved camping, fishing, and especially gardening. Whether tending plants or caring for others, Jim had a gift for helping things grow.
Above all, Jim will be remembered as a man who loved deeply and served faithfully. His legacy of faith, family, and prayer will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
