James Arlington Rigsbee, 91, a resident of Pleasant Garden passed away at Beacon Place in Greensboro on Tuesday evening October 30, 2018. He was born August 24, 1927 in Greensboro, the son of Matthew and Elizabeth Perkins Rigsbee.
James was a former employee with Southern Resin in Thomasville. A veteran of WW II, he served his country as a member of the U.S. Army and also with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Randleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Phala Hoops, Helen Perkins, Inez Gowan, Doris Stephenson and his brothers, Wallace Rigsbee, Junior Rigsbee, Louis Rigsbee, Warren Rigsbee and Billy Perkins.
James is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nona Jenkins Rigsbee of the home; daughters, Patricia Rigsbee Dixon of Greensboro, Pam Rigsbee Garrett and husband Jeff of Julian, Joy Smith and husband Bob of Charleston, SC; son, Reverend James Allen Rigsbee of Cary; grandchildren, Johnny Garrett, Jonathan Dixon, Jason Dixon, Jennifer Garrett Rakestraw, Brandon Rigsbee, Joel Rigsbee, David Bell, Edward Bell and great grandchildren, Taylor Garrett, Parker Dixon, Reagan Dixon, Lillian Rakestraw, Brady Dixon, Jack Rakestraw and Olivia Rigsbee.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Chris Heppding. Interment with Military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
