James “Jamey” Patrick Rymer, 56, a resident of Charlotte and former resident of Greensboro went home to be with the Lord on Friday April 6, 2018, while under the care of the Hospice unit at Central Carolinas HealthCare System Pineville in Charlotte, NC. He was born September 21, 1961 in Greensboro, the son of the late Jack Sanford Rymer, Sr. and Helen Stokes Rymer.
Jamie was a graduate of Ragsdale High School, attended UNC-G and was a former employee with Duke Energy. He had quite a diverse set of interests during his life. He rose to the rank of Eagle Scout with the Bronze Palm, loved fishing with his son Patrick, played the drums in a Blues band and even dabbled in simple magic tricks. He also had a lifelong love for Duke basketball and enjoyed an occasional round of golf with is dad and brothers. He was known for his quick wit and his ability to make people laugh with his natural sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Lou Farmer Rymer of the home; his son, James Patrick Rymer, II of TX; brothers, Jackson Sanford Rymer, Jr. and wife Libby of Greensboro, John Michael Rymer and wife Mary of IN; nieces, Becky Rymer, Kathryn Rymer and nephews, John Michael Rymer, II, Sam Rymer and Charlie Rymer.
A Celebration of Jamey’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Jamey’s memory to the American Heart Association.
