Jane Reid Miller

She is survived by her faithful and devoted husband of 70 years, Barney B. Miller, Children, Melanie Plummer & husband Robert "Bob" Plummer, Benjamin Reid Miller & wife Marla of Chapel Hill, N.C, Her grandchildren Max Miller and Myles Miller, of Chapel Hill, Reid Plummer & wife Ashley of Jamestown, Ryon Plummer & wife Mary Lee of Greensboro, Will Plummer & wife Dana of Wilmington, Lauren Forbis & husband Trevor of Raleigh, Her great grandchildren Aiden and Wyatt of Jamestown, Ruthie of Greensboro, Charlie and Jack of Wilmington and Pace, Anderson, Miller Jane and Augustine of Raleigh. They all were the delight of her life, and she spent a great time with all of them.

She was born at home in Richburg, S.C. on October 13, 1934, to David C. Reid and Rose Burns Reid. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Frances Ellis and Rose Burns Simpson and brothers, Dec. Reid Jr, Robert and John Reid.

She attended Erskine College as did her mother, two sisters, and one brother, as well as many other family members. She met her future husband there. She transferred to The University of South Carolina after two years and graduated with a B.A. degree in Secondary Education in 1956. She taught 2 years in Walterboro, SC. and 2 years at Claxton Elementary in Greensboro. At the University of South Carolina, she was a member of Alpha Delta Sorority and a member of The May Court.

She had a multitude of friends and led an active social life.

Her friendliness, warmth and sincerity followed her all of life, and during that time she never met a stranger. She possessed many talents, as she was an excellent bridge player, a good cook, and was known for her flower arrangements that won many blue ribbons. She was an avid student of the Bible.

Jane was an excellent dancer and along with her husband made quite a couple on the dance floor. Jane was an All-State Basketball player and later in life became an excellent tennis player. In the many places she lived during her husband's career with Burlington Industries, she organized a Garden Club, was a member of the Symphony Guild, Director of Bible School, organized a Children's Choir and was President of a Book Club.

At Westminster she led a very active church life as she was an Elder, Sunday School and Adult Class Teacher, Stephen Minister, Presbyterian Pilgrimage Graduate, President of The Women of the Church, Circle Leader, Co-Chair of the Congregational Care Committee, wrote/directed Children's Christmas Pageant, Coordinator of Funeral Receptions, Served Mobile Meals and

She was also a Bible Teacher at The Presbyterian Home and a member of the Board of Advisors ere.

A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Friday June 26 at 11 AM. Following the service a Reception will be held in the downstairs recreational room. Burial will be at a later date in the Union ARP. Church Cemetery in Richburg, S.C.
