On September 1, 2010 we lost a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Wednesday, 7:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Rev. Pam Strader officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
She was born in Ladysmith Wisconsin to James and Lorraine Gundy, who both predeceased her. Growing up in a military family she had the opportunity to live in many states. She graduated from High Point Central High school. She worked in the advertising and marketing industry as well having as an extensive career in the staffing field. Most recently she helped start and was employed with Home Watch Caregivers.
She loved spending time reading and shopping for shoes, the Cubs and spending time with family and friends.
In 1988, she married her one true love, Bill Harris. They resided in Greensboro. She is survived by her husband as well as her children, John Chenoweth of Greensboro, Pete Harris (Mary) of Thomasville, NC; Matt Harris (Charity) of Concord, NC; Amber Blevins (Scotty) of Lexington, NC; and Joella Harris of Boynton Beach, Fl. She is also survived by her siblings, sisters, Teri Smith (Ed), and Molly Farrington of Greensboro, NC. And brothers, Michael Gundy (Julie) of Katy TX, Patrick Gundy (Ann) of LaPine, OR, and Tim Gundy of Greensboro, NC. She is survived by her grandchildren, Brandon, Mason and Marshall Harris, Katie and Dylan Blevins, Justin Harris and Nikia Harris as well as a host of nieces, nephews and good friends.
She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor as well as her generous caring spirit. She had a way of making everyone she met feel special. She will be missed!
Janis volunteered her time in the past with Hospice so the family would like to suggest that friends wishing to honor her may contribute in her memory.
