Greensboro: Jay A. Milligan, Jr., died Tuesday, October 9, 2012. He was born in Lakeland, Florida on October 18, 1925 to Mary Lena Newman Milligan and Jay Alexander Milligan. Shortly thereafter they moved back to Dawson, Georgia. He attended schools in Terrell County and the Georgia Military Academy of Dalonaga. In 1943, he joined the Army Air Corps and served I India, China, and Burma.
Upon returning home, he attended and graduated from the University of Georgia. He worked for Bibb Manufacturing Company and moved to Greensboro. Before retiring he was employed by Mount Vernon Mills.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Brown Milligan; his son Andy (Debbie); daughter, Mary; two grandchildren – Andrea (Anthony) Byers, and Jayson (Elizabeth) Milligan- and three great grands – Isabelle, Adelaide, and Riker; and sister, Georgia Anne Arthur of Americus, Georgia.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 13, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 2300 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27403. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
