
Jean graduated from Converse College and was the wife of the late Dr. Rufus Robert Hambright. They had been married for 65 years during which time she was a community volunteer and especially honored to serve as past president of Greensboro Medical Alliance as well as a founder and first president of the Family Life Council of Greensboro, and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro.
Before coming back to Greensboro, she and Dr. Hambright retired to Beaufort, NC where they were active at Cape Carteret Presbyterian Church and she was an elected elder.
Surviving her are sons, Rufus R. Hambright Jr. and his wife, Karen of Greensboro, NC; and Dr. Wesley F. Hambright and wife, Sherry of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren, Ellan, Lily, Charlotte, Sarah, and Parker; brother William A. Love and wife Elaine of Kings Creek, SC; and her sister-in-law Catchie Hambright Huntley and her husband Dr. Steve Huntley of Memphis, Tennessee
A service celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Well Spring Retirement Community, Richardson Auditorium followed by visitation in the Rotunda at Well Spring. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grover Cemetery, Grover, NC. The family will receive friends at the Shiloh Presbyterian Church immediately after the graveside service.
