

Jeanne Goode, a loving Aunt, sister-in-law and dear friend to many, of Winston-Salem,
NC passed away on February 7th, surrounded by family and friends after a battle with
a lung disease related to rheumatoid arthritis.
Jeanne was born the youngest of three children to Raymond and Laura Goode in
Burlington, NC on May 21st, 1945.
Jeanne is survived by her niece Cathy York and her husband Brent of Greensboro, her
nephew Keith of Aspen, CO, her sister-in-law Barbara Goode of Greensboro, NC, her
grandnephews, Silas York of Arlington, VA and Calvin York of Charlotte, NC.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Doug Goode, who passed
away in 1965, and brother Garland Goode, who passed away in 2023.
Jeanne was a devoted aunt to Cathy and Keith. Having no children of her own, she
loved and cared for those two like they were her own. She loved spending time with
Garland and Barbara as well and cherished the many meals and times spent together.
She loved her grandnephews as well, spoiling them just as much and enjoyed seeing
them grow into fine young men.
One of Jeanne’s great passions in life were her many close friends. She loved dining
out with them, her annual trips to the beach, and visits to Blowing Rock and Asheville. She also loved reading and decorating.
She was a devoted friend to one of her closest friends, Mary Jane Amado, serving her
and loving her well as she battled the early stages of Alzheimer’s.
Jeanne attended Mar Hills college, transferred to and graduated from UNC-Greensboro
with a Bachelor of Administration in Business. She completed the Diploma Program in
Medical Record Administration at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. She served as Director
of Medical Records at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, (NKA Atrium Health Wake
Forest Baptist Medical Center, Health Information Management ) for 45 years and
retired in 2011. She was a consummate and accomplished leader, peer and mentor,
and served as President of the North Carolina Medical Record Association from 1976
to 1977. Her passion for and dedication to her profession will serve as a model for
many.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 11:00 AM at Hanes-
Lineberry Funeral Home, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd in Greensboro. Preceding the service
there will be a time to greet the family beginning at 10:00 AM. Private family interment
services will be held at a later date.
