Jeanne B. Martin, cherished and beloved wife and mother, fell asleep and awoke in Heaven on Tuesday, May 4th, 2021. She leaves behind her husband of forty-nine years, John, and her only child, Megan.
Those who had the joy of knowing Jeanne will miss her generosity of spirit, her compassion for the struggles of others, her impish sense of humor and her raucous laugh that could be heard by the neighbors.
Jeanne was inspired by the beauty of the natural world, and she let it fuel her creativity - from the poetry and short stories she wrote, to the decorative crafts she made, to the garden she planted and tended every year. A simple bouquet of tulips could bring a beaming smile to her face.
In her heyday, Jeanne loved to entertain and would pull out all of the stops to bedeck her home for special occasions and provide sumptuous feasts for family and friends to devour. No other Christmas tree on Earth could compare to the ones that graced the Martin household every year - the glorious Fraser firs that wore the glittering ornaments Jeanne made herself. Making memories and bringing joy to others through her efforts was her raison d'etre.
Ultimately, Jeanne's world revolved around her family, and everything she did was in the service of loving them, bonding them together and making them happy. Jeanne's devotion to her parents, Al and Tina Bunton, was unshakeable; when they died, her heart shattered and never fully healed. She strove to keep their memories alive through the family traditions they had created and the lessons they taught her. Jeanne honored her father and mother and is now reunited with them in God's glory, which was her deepest hope.
There are no regrets in Heaven, but if there were, Jeanne's would be leaving behind her husband and daughter. Jeanne relied on John's stoicism and strength, his ability to make her laugh and the great care he took of her. Megan was the apple of Jeanne's eye, and she loved her to distraction; mother and daughter were truly the best of friends. For John and Megan, the world is no longer as wonderful as it once was with Jeanne in it, but for her sake and in her honor, they will hold fast to the lifetime of love and memories they shared.
Jeanne B. Martin was a diamond of the first water and like a diamond, she had a thousand facets that dazzled those that loved her. So to her family and friends, remember her sparkle and celebrate the beauty of her life. Know that she is alive once again and is an exquisite perfect diamond in the crown of Christ.
