Jeni graduated from Western Alamance High School in Burlington and received her Master’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). She was a Competition Cheerleading Judge.
Jeni loved working with children and taking the time to really listen. She encouraged each child to grow and challenge themselves. She demonstrated this through her years teaching dance, coaching cheerleading, teaching both pre-school and elementary school. But most of all she loved Jase and Gatlin unconditionally; she ensured both boys feel special and happy.
Jeni was preceded in death by her sister, Jana Victoria McLeod, and by her bonus father Ronald Wade “Tim” McDaniel; Jeni’s maternal grandmother Judy Hayes Mitchell as well as Jeni’s paternal Grandparents, Claude Marion and Barbara Jean Strickland who passed away several years ago.
Surviving are Jeni’s two sons; Jase Scott Oliver, Gatlin Mitchell Oliver; her mother, Julie Mitchell McDaniel of Hurt, VA; her father, Claude William “Billy” Strickland of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeni’s brother, Jackson Alexander McLeod of Oak Ridge and Jeni’s Maternal Grandfather, Johnny O’Neill Mitchell, Sr., of Randleman.
A Celebration of Jeni’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 15, 2025 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home in the Sedgefield Chapel on Gate City Boulevard. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time.
