Sending love to the family from Harkers Island, being neighbors since they bought their home away from home they and my parents Curt and Martha Salter became very close friends. Lots of Saturdays were spent at each other homes having a great meal of fresh seafood if Mama cooked and fresh steaks if it was a Jerry's house. Its ironic that Jerry's Service is today on Mama's birthday! They are all celebrating in Heaven now! Many prayers to the family in the days to come.

Jerry was my Bonus Dad! He always welcomed us in his home and we spent many vacations, long weekends and even a couple of day trips last year during the pandemic with Jerry and Mama! He was always ready to go on whatever adventure we chose to do from going to Harker’s Island, day trips to the Science Center/Zoo, trip to Mayberry, or he was just as happy just fishing and hanging around the farm.
He always asked where Randy was if we ever came without him and he would tell me to make sure I bring him next time we come. He enjoyed telling Randy stories and watching TV with him.
He always called Alyssa by her middle name because he said Cheyenne was easier to say. He asked her many times to just come live with him and mama.
He always called Davis “Dennis the Menace “ because he said he looked liked him and occasionally acted like him 🤣
He gave me a hard time about my “holes in my jeans” he would ask me if I could afford to buy jeans that didn’t have holes in them 🤣
He always complimented all of us and told us how proud he was of us!!
Jerry will truly be missed by my little family! May you Rest In Peace Jerry! Until we meet again!
Robin, Randy, Alyssa “Cheyenne” and Davis “Dennis the Menace”

Oh how we love our Papa Jerry. Some of our favorite family vacations were spent with Papa Jerry but our greatest was our adventure to New York Ground Zero with him. Of course his awesome stories and his never ending compliments to all of us will always hold a special place in our hearts. He loved giving Shane a hard time but he always made sure to plan on hunting with him when headed to Georgia, even if it wasn’t hunting season. He still asked Ben even at age 12 if he learned to walk yet because Ben was so clumsy but before he was 1 could walk across his boat without falling. He made sure to force Ivie to discuss her college plans even if it meant telling him her plan two times in a day, he kept her thinking and focusing on her life time goal. Tehehe
Forever you’ll be missed, fly high Papa Jerry. We love you bunches

I took a business trip to the Raleigh area about 2 years ago and spent a few days with Joyce and Jerry. We had several memorable meals and a lot of good conversation; and of course some good stories from Jerry. He enjoyed telling me about his life and his hobbies. He always made me feel welcome and loved. He will be deeply missed.
The attached photo is from dinner the first night I visir We laughed and talked for hours at the restaurant.
