Jerry was born on May 27, 1956 in Kinston, NC, the son of Henry G. and Alice Marie Whitehurst Swiggett. He grew up in Danville, VA with his family and graduated from George Washington High School with the class of 1974. He graduated from Guilford College with a BA in Accounting and later graduated with a BS Degree in Nursing from Winston Salem State University. He was employed with Peak Resources of Alamance as a Register Nurse.
Jerry was a giving person who loved his family and friends. He will be deeply missed. Jerry is survived by his parents and sister, Alice S. Workman and husband Mike, all of Thomasville, NC; nephews, Darren Workman and wife Lauren of Austin, TX and Kyle Workman of Raleigh, NC.
A Celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, 3:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
