

Jimmie was born June 10, 1923 in Guilford County the son of the late Albert Reid Boyles and Flossie Cobb Boyles.
He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and joined Elon Community Church as an associate member in 1992. Mr. Boyles sang in the choir at each and in the choir at Twin Lakes Retirement Center as long as he was physically able. He was known as a superb first tenor.
Mr. Boyles was a transportation executive for 40 years, retiring in 1989. He was president of his own firm, Boyles Traffic Control, Inc. and was a 50-year member of United Commercial Travelers. Mr. Boyles served as President of the former Piedmont Traffic Club, presently known as Triad Transportation Club of Greensboro.
Mr. Boyles served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Opa Locka, Florida as a Store Keeper (STD). It was of interest to him that this was the location from which Amelia Earhart began her last journey. Mr. Boyles was an active Rotary member for 28 years and was the recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship. Mr. Boyles also was active in the Jaycees and was a 1000 Point Man. He served on the Board of Directors at Forest Oaks Country Club and was a charter member of both the North Carolina and the National Wildlife Federation.
Mr. Boyles and his late wife of 71 years, Lou K. Boyles who preceded him in death on July 18, 2014, moved from Wedgedale Drive in Greensboro to Twin Lakes Retirement Center in 1992. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Huffines of Carthage; granddaughter, Melanie Huffines of Raleigh; sisters, Jane Clemmons of Whitsett and Frances McCurry of Pennybyrn at Maryfield.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverends Sharon Wheeler and Julia Peoples. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
