Mrs. Joan V. G. Van Gonsic Hamilton

A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Haywood Duke Room at the church.

Joan was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Greensboro Junior League and the Wednesday Lecture Club. She served on the boards of the Children’s Home Society of NC and Maryfield. She worked with the Red Cross, both as a water safety instructor and a volunteer with the Bloodmobile.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Heberling Hamilton; sister, Cynthia Berardi; and brother, John Van Gonsic, Jr.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Holly H. Crittendon and her husband, William Burrell Crittendon, Jr. of Charlotte; son, Joseph Jeffrey Hamilton and his wife Millie Flournoy Hamilton of Costa Rica; and her grandchildren, William Burrell Crittendon, III, Hollis Joseph Hamilton Crittendon, Havlin Crispin Crittendon, and Joseph Gray Hamilton.
