

Mr. John “Jack” Wesley Glass, Jr., 90, a resident of Greensboro transitioned to his Heavenly home Thursday morning July 10, 2014. Jack was born May 26, 1924 in Sanford, the son of John Wesley Glass, Sr. and Estelle Wicker Glass. He attended Duke University and NC State College. A Veteran of WW II he served in the US Navy. Jack was employed by the Brick Association of North Carolina as Manager of Masonry Training coordinating masonry training in schools across the state. After retirement from the Brick Association he worked for Boren Brick. He was a longtime member and Sunday School teacher at Gate City Baptist Church.
Jack was married to Mary Jo Taylor Glass who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda P. Null of Kernersville, Sandra G. Carter and husband Al of Winston-Salem, Laura G. Brautigam and husband Jack of Wilmington; one son, Randy T. Glass of Greensboro; one sister, Ann G. Belladonna of Gainesville, GA; one brother, Fred T. Glass of Sanford; four grandchildren, Allison, Samantha, Joshua, Wesley and four great grandchildren, Brent, Tristen, Devin and Jasmine.
A service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Bill Claffey. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Jack’s memory to Gate City Baptist Church, 5250 Hilltop Rd., Jamestown, NC 27282 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
