John J. Lysaght Sr., 89, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 at Maryfield at Pennybyrne. John was born in St. Joseph, MO on Feb.22, 1932, the son of Richard D. and Fay Veronica Law Lysaght. He volunteered for the US Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. John lived his life in service to his fellow man. He volunteered in his church, served as Scout Master for the Boy Scouts. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight, District Deputy and many other offices providing aid to countless groups in the community in need.
John passed on his belief in service through the generations as many of his children and grandchildren chose lives of service as military, law enforcement, nurses, teachers, foster parents and community volunteers.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Lysaght and three of his brothers; Richard, Robert and Eugene as well as his dearest friend, Al Moore. He is survived by seven children; Duveen Woolbright of Spartanburg, SC, Sharon Densten of Clementon, NJ, John Lysaght Jr. of Etters, PA, Renee Dalaney of Frostburg, MD, Valerie Conigiliaro of Cedar Park, TX, Joseph Lysaght of Azle, TX and James Lysaght Sr. of Trinity, NC; twenty two grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christain Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 15, 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church with inurnment to follow in the columbarium at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point.
