

John Robert Stass, 80, passed away on September 29, 2016 at Pennybyrn in High Point with complications from a brain tumor. John was born in Bayonne, NJ on August 30, 1936 to John and Anna Stass. He graduated from Greensboro High School and was educated at NC State University, Guilford College and Guilford Community College. He worked at Republic Steel and Burlington Industries but spent most of his career with the US Postal Service at the Bulk Mail Center.
As a walking computer he easily calculated in his head and remembered telephone numbers for just about anyone he called. He was a long time member of both the Moose Club and the Elks Lodge. He loved traveling in the South and vacationing in the Grand Strand. His sense of humor was keen and his politics conservative.
John was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-one years, Barbara Jessup Stass. He is survived by his sister, Joan Stass Tate and husband Garren; nephew, John G. Tate and wife Lori; stepson, Randy Chandler and wife Carol and grandchildren, Kristin and Nicole Chandler. He will be deeply missed.
Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8th, 11:00 a.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel Entombment will be at Guilford Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank all the medical staff who worked so hard to get him well.
