On February 18, 2022, the angels were singing Halleluiah to welcome God’s newest angel as Johnnie Earl Pait was received into God’s presence. Born into this world on September 30, 1938 to Fred Chalmers and Evelyn Spivey Pait, Johnnie lived in Bladenboro, NC, where he met the love of his life, Barbara White in 1958 and married on August 26, 1961 in Dillon, SC. They moved to Greensboro, NC in 1963 and just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Throughout his lifetime, Johnnie enjoyed all kinds of fun with family and friends. Johnnie loved to play golf and softball. He also loved playing basketball with his children. He was a truck driver for 42 years and retired from ABF Freight Lines in 2000 and as a member of Teamsters Local 391; he played in golf tournaments with the Teamsters in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a member of New Covenant Church.
Loved ones waiting for him in heaven are his parents Fred Chalmers and Evelyn Pait; son, Johnnie Earl Pait Jr.; brother, Robert Pait, sisters, Mamie Pait and Addie Pait and great nephew Cameron Pait. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara White Pait; daughters, Angela Pait Coberly and husband Michael of Greensboro, NC, Tara Pait Berry and husband Chris of Montezuma, IN, and daughter-in-law Leslie Pait; grandchildren, Amanda Coberly Moore (Robert), Kevin Coberly (Kristin), Devin L. Carter, Ariel Pait McDowell (Matt), Johnnie E. Pait III, Rebecca Berry (Andy), Jessica Berry and Dannica Berry; great grandchildren Stephanie, Sam, Sean, Shayla, Chance, Khloee, Devin Jr., Aaliyah, Abigail, Bethany, Mason and Shiloh; sisters, Gertrude Pait Jackson and Patricia Pait Freeman; brother Chalmers Judd “Pete” Pait; Sister-in-law Sally White Whitaker and honorary grandchildren Josh Ward and Katelyn Ward Becker and many nieces and nephews and greats. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Friday, February 25 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Johnnie will be remembered during a 1:30 PM service at New Covenant Church on February 26 officiated by grandson, Pastor Kevin Coberly and Pastor Josh DaWalt, followed by interment at Guilford Memorial Park.
