Johnny "Randy" Randall Apple

Johnny Randall (Randy) Apple was born on December 1, 1958 in Greensboro, NC. He graduated from Grimsley High School in 1978. He then attended Alamance Community College where he received a culinary degree and graduated with honors. He has worked for the National Wrestling Alliance at the coliseum, Happy Rentz, and Bills Pizza. He was a courier for Central Carolina Bank Operations and for Marc Research. He went on to start his own business – Randy’s Fun Foods. He sold snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy, and lemonade. He eventually made his snow cones with solar power with the help of the NC State Solar Center and named his business Solar Ice. He had a cart at Walmart on Wendover for the first ten years they were open. Randy was an avid camper, hiker, and kayaker. He loved going to the mountain man rendezvous.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Johnsie Apple (his namesake); his grandfather George Peter Apple; his grandmother Annie Stokes; his parents, Howard and Ruby Apple; his sister Connie Bozarth; his brother Sam Apple; his niece, Holly Bozarth; and his beloved dogs, Christy, Cheyenne, and Chrissy.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Apple; his sister Carol Apple; his nephew Jeff Apple; his stepchildren, who he called his own; his grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and his long-time friends, Bailey Jordan, Buck Lineberry, Ken Dobbins, Kevin Ross, Rocky Heaton, and Stan Hodgin; his loving dog Chevy; and his cat friend Sylvester.

Randy loved Jesus and had started a sign ministry to spread his love despite the many problems and pain he endured through his last years. His signs read, “Jesus Loves You” and “Why Worry, God is in Control.”

Randy will be missed tremendously. He was a kind and generous man, full of love. Randy had a deep love for animals and requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the animal rescue, Spots and Stripes Forever at spotsandstripesfr.com.

Randy’s service will be held at 3 o’clock pm on Thursday, December 22, 2022 in the mausoleum at Lakeview Memorial Park.
