Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro, with Pastor Roger Carmichael officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:30 am prior to the funeral service in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will immediately follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born January 6, 1957 in High Point to the late J. A. Key, Jr. and Patsy Sams Key, Johnny attended Whispering Hope Baptist Church in High Point. He was the produce manager for Harris Teeter for years and also had worked at Cloverleaf Supermarket. Johnny was very much a people person and never met a stranger. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who was loved by many. Johnny loved, first and foremost, our Lord and Savior. He so enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. Johnny also, enjoyed fishing, football, and Nascar.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 36 years, Karen Stratton Key; daughter, Jessica Key Martinez and her husband Rudy; son, Joey Key; brothers, Donald Key and his wife Donna and Gary Key; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and other extended family, (including his fur babies and pets).
