Mr. Johnny Gaston Stanley, 91, a resident of Greensboro died Thursday May 12, 2011 at Wesley Long Hospital. John was born December 7, 1919 in Whiteville a son of Samuel Austin and Allie Bell Reeves Stanley. He was a veteran WWII serving in the U.S. Navy and was self employed in sewing machine sales and repair. He was preceded in death in 1992 by his wife, Hazel D. Stanley; his parents; three sisters, Myrtle Peeler, Ann Benerniss, Alma Donaldson and his brothers, Leamon, Clyde, Bill, Howard and S.A. Stanley, Jr.
Surviving are three daughters, Marcia Poczekaj of Ohio, Debra Cabral of Florida, Gail Smith of California; one sister, Margaret Hicks and husband Nathaniel of Greensboro, 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and his faithful caregiver,Virginia Young of Randleman.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Kevin Johnson. Entombment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
