

A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday March 13, at Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church in Greensboro, N.C., followed by burial at Westminster Gardens Cemetery in Greensboro where he will join his loving wife Ann. The family will receive freinds on Thursday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
Joe was born in Worcester, Mass. on June 25, 1931, the fifth child of Joseph and Josephine Grzyb and the little brother to Arthur, Felicia, Hellen and Terry. After graduating from Saint John Kanty Prep in Erie, Pennsylvania, Joe joined the United States Coast Guard. During his tour of duty he was stationed in Groton, Conn., Biorka Island, Alaska and Miami Beach, Florida where he received his certificate of Permanent Second Class Electronics Technician.
After his honorable discharge Joe continued to study engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass. While studying for his Electrical Engineering degree Joe met the love of his life Ann Lawler, they were married on August 31,1957 and started out on their life journey together which lasted for nearly 50 years.
Joe worked for IBM and RCA in the early part of his career which took him and Ann away from Worcester and transported them to Hyde Park, New York. While in Hyde Park, they gave birth to a son Joseph and a daughter Dawn. In 1968 Joe took a position with IBM in Burlington, Vermont as a engineering manager. During his tenure, Joe received numerous awards for his contribution to new technology, including an Outstanding Contribution Award from Thomas Watson, Jr. for his role in the development and commercialization of the world’s first 64 bit memory chip. Joe continued to work with IBM holding various positions in Vermont, Florida and Virginia until he retired in 1989.
Joe's devotion to his family especially his children and grand children, was unparalleled. Joe will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the gang at the High Point Moose.
Joe is survived by his son Joseph A. Grzyb of Greensboro, N.C., daughter Dawn Campbell of Charlotte, N.C., daughter-in-law, Julie Grzyb, son-in-law Richard Campbell, and his three loving grandchildren, , Joseph (JJ), Justin and Jessica, whom he shall forever watch over.
