A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, 1900 Vanstory St., Greensboro, NC 27403. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born Rocco Gottardo, in Picerno, Italy on May 9, 1959, Joe was adopted by the late James Edward Daas and Gloria Zelhof Daas, hence his current name, Joseph James Daas. He was raised in Brooklyn, NY. He moved to Staten Island in 1973 and then to Jackson, NJ in 1993. In 2005, Joe started his own painting company, 2-J Painting. His son Joey became co-owner of the company in 2012, and they ran the company together until 2019, when Joe retired and Joey took over the reins. Together, they made one heck of a team, never having a dull moment. Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his daughters, his infant daughter, Kathleen and then his daughter, Lisa Daas.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 46 years, Susan Daas, nee Ryan; his son, Firefighter, Joseph “Joey” Daas; grandson, Lorenzo Daas; and other extended family and friends.
