Born to Joseph and Rita (Wenzel) Tomaszewski in Ulster County, New York, on January 18, 1946, Joe graduated from Kingston High School and dedicated 45 years to ShopRite, retiring from management at age 65.
Retirement did not slow him down. A lifelong golf enthusiast, Joe spent the next 10 years working in the pro shop at Crooked Tree Golf Course, where he found community, friendship, and a second home.
When he wasn’t at the course, Joe enjoyed life’s quieter moments—watching television, completing puzzles, and spending time at home with Anita.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Anita Tomaszewski (Scardefield); his children, John Tomaszewski and Dawn Tomaszewski; his stepdaughter, Rachel Davies and stepson, Kenneth Davies; his brother, Peter Tomaszewski, sisters Nancy Perry and Kathy Tomaszewski. He was predeceased by his sisters Joann Perry and Susan Perry.
He will be remembered by his family and friends for the life he shared with them, the friendships he made along the way, and the simple moments that brought him happiness.
A life doesn’t have to be a perfect round to be beautiful. It is the people beside us, the places we love, and the moments along the way that make it worth playing.
Joe played his well.
A memorial service celebrating Joe’s life will be held on September 1, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. at Crooked Tree Golf Course, a place that held special meaning for him and those who knew him.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
The family extends sincere gratitude to Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to AuthoraCare Collective Hospice of Greensboro, North Carolina.
