Josephine Raney Galtelli, better known as “Ama” passed away peacefully in her home in the early hours of December 24th at the age of 78. She was a devoted wife, nurturing grandmother, amazing mother, favorite Aunt, caring sister, and best friend to many. Her love language was food and gifts.
Josephine’s proudest achievements: her two grandchildren, Bella and Hayes Burd. She loved them, played with them, fed them, cared for them, and attended all of their sporting events, rain or shine. Her face would light up whenever she was with them or spoke of them.
Ama welcomed all (with no sand) into her and Apa’s beach house. She hosted countless beach trips for family and friends and is responsible for so many cherished memories. She taught us how to properly fold a fitted sheet and how to make a kitchen countertop shine. Unintentionally, she encouraged us to re-evaluate and upgrade our home bedding after being her guest and experiencing a goodnight’s sleep in luxurious bedding. Josephine will be greatly missed, however her love, kindness and generosity will always be felt.
She was preceded in death by her son, Nicolas Kent Galtelli, husband, Raymond Louis Galtelli; parents, Hollaman Raney and Christine Bigleben Raney and her brothers Frank Raney and William “Bill” Raney. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Burd; grandchildren, Bella and Hayes and siblings, Holly Raney, Clay Mae Oltemari, Mary Christine Laney, John Raney and Rita Purser.
