Judith Lorene Brown (87) was born on August 2, 1939, in Durham, NC. On August 3, 2026, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior and was reunited with her beloved husband. Judith passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Wesley Long Hospital.
Judith was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was marked by serving others with a graceful spirit. Soft-spoken and gentle in manner, she carried herself with a composed and careful presence. She offered warmth and kindness to everyone who knew her.
For many years, Judith worked alongside her husband at their Nationwide Insurance business, where she made many lifelong friends. She also took great pride in being a homemaker, tending faithfully to her home and family life.
A member of Gospel Baptist Church, Judith’s faith and church community were very important to her. In her personal time, she found simple joys in church activities, puzzles, yard work, and scrapbooking—pastimes that reflected her patient spirit and appreciation for the meaningful details of life.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Evelyn Durham Henderson, as well as her husband of 63 years, Bobby E. Brown, Sr.
Surviving are her children, Ricky Brown of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, Bobby Brown, Jr. (Donna) of Browns Summit, Tim Brown (Heather Byrd) of Greensboro, and Kim Starkey (Dell) of Greensboro; sister, Deborah Perdue (Clyde) of Browns Summit; brothers, Joe Henderson of Deltona, FL, and Mark Henderson (Darlene) of Hillsville, VA; grandchildren, Tyler Brown (Julie), Katie Brown (Payne), Adam Starkey (Emily), Anna Starkey Franklin (Justin), Patrick Brown (Laura), Lauren Brown (Justin), Jacob Brown (Mikaela), and Daniel Brown (Morgan); great grandchildren, Hudson Carter, Anneliese Brown, and Amelia Brown.
A funeral service will be held Monday, August 10, 2026, 11:30 a.m., at Gospel Baptist Church, 5945 N. Church St. Greensboro, NC 27455. Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until service time, at the church. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
