Julia Stewart Eskridge

Born in Burlington, NC on September 27, 1948, Julia was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Glenard Stewart. Julia loved her family and her precious pups. Her early life took her all over the country from North Carolina to California and back again. She worked as a paralegal in Raleigh and then moved into Title Insurance, ending her career at Investors Title and Chicago Title. When not at work Julia loved to travel and passed that love on to her son; the two of them shared many great adventures over the years.

When at home Julia’s love for cooking was only surpassed by the deliciousness of the food she prepared. A full table brought her great joy. She also took great pleasure at Christmas time baking with her grandchildren - definitely a holiday highlight. She was an avid golfer, loved bowling and playing cards with her precious friends. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Julia’s favorite moments were the ones spent with her “Sweet Man” and they were blessed with almost 45 loving years.

Julia was a strong independent woman who knew her own mind and stood up for those she loved. She loved her people fiercely and squeezed in every second she was given to be with them. Her final requests were that her family stay close and love one another as she had been loved and “please take care of my dog.”

Surviving is her beloved husband, Jim Eskridge; her son Charles (Chuck) Griffin: three daughters in love, Blair (Rick) Nodine, Porter (Vance) Young and Ali (Kelly) Hoce; sister Donna Worley and brother, Arthur Stewart (Vy). “JuJu” will be missed by 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 24 at First Presbyterian Church, 617 North Elm Street, Greensboro. The family will receive friends following the service in the Virginia Gilmer Room.
