

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the conclusion of the service.
June was born on May 2, 1933, in Timberville, Virginia, to the late George F. Turner and Virginia Wine Turner. She graduated from Timberville High School in 1950 and went on to Rockingham Memorial Hospital (RMH) School of Nursing, earning her nursing degree in 1953. June married her husband, James Lester Branner, of Timberville, Virginia, on April 21, 1957. Following their union, they moved to Houston, Texas, until they moved to Greensboro, NC, in 1966. For the last year and a half, June resided at Heritage Greens Assisted Living, in Greensboro, where she received the loving care that she needed. During her time there she frequented the Bingo and Skip Bo card table. She will always be remembered as a dedicated nurse and a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. June was a longstanding member of St. John’s Church, where she enjoyed worship and fellowship with her fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, James Lester Branner, who passed away on January 19, 2015, and a sister, Gloria T. Swope on October 16, 2022, of Timberville, Virginia.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carla Sue Sanders (husband, Mark) of Madison, North Carolina; sons, James L. Branner (former wife, Reyne) of Columbus, Indiana, Gregory S. Branner (wife, Teresa) of Madison Heights, Virginia, and Jerry T. Branner (wife, Gail) of Huntersville, North Carolina; brothers, Robert “Bob” L. Turner (wife, Faye) of Timberville, Virginia and Gary F. Turner (wife, Ruby) of Broadway, Virginia; brother-in-law, Nelson P. Swope of Timberville, Virginia; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she enjoyed keeping up to date on.
