Kathryn "Kathy" O'Briant Binkley

She was born July 19, 1953, in Greensboro to Tom and Bettie O'Briant. She graduated from Western Guilford High School and Coker College. She began her career as an elementary school teacher before returning to Greensboro and pursuing her passion for golf, working at the Cardinal Golf & Country Club and volunteering extensively in the sport.

Kathy married Robert "Bob" Binkley on her birthday, July 19, 1987. Together they shared a life filled with travel, family, friends, and golf.

A highly accomplished golfer throughout the Carolinas, Kathy won numerous club, city, and senior championships and served in leadership roles with golf clubs and associations. She remained fiercely competitive to the end, having recently scored under her age.

More than her accomplishments, Kathy will be remembered for her larger-than-life personality, infectious laugh, generous heart, and devotion to family and friends.

She loved music, reading, cooking, travel, and especially golf. To her grandchildren, Graham and Ellie, she was lovingly known as Kaki.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Kenneth and his wife, Kathryn; grandchildren, Graham and Ellie; brother, Mike O'Briant and his wife, Linda; sister, Patti Deschler and her husband, Peter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A service will be held Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC, followed by a reception. A private ceremony for the family will follow at her final resting place.
