Ken was born in Chattanooga, TN, the son of Earl Coffey and Katherine Eckenrod Coffey.
Ken was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was proud of his service to his country in the US Army and subsequently spent his career in civil service with the department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Ken loved spending time with his grandchildren and found joy working in his yard and creating unique landscape spaces with field stones collected from farms on the outskirts of Greensboro.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded by his sister, Mary Anne Coffey.
Surviving are his son, Eric Coffey; daughter, Heather Coffey Tate; brother, Doug Coffey; partner, Katherine Billman; seven grandchildren, Hunter, Alexander, Brooke, and Ainsley Coffey, Aiden, Brittney, and Harrison Tate; two step-grandchildren: Madison Forbes and Kent Coble.
