Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel on W. Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral from 10:00 until 11:00 am.
Gibbie was born June 8, 1947 to the late Bernice and Kenneth Sr. in Greensboro and was of the Christian faith. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Army and retired from Limitorque Corp. as an Electrician. He enjoyed playing on church softball and basketball leagues and the YMCA volleyball league. Gibbie was a musician who played harmonica, guitar, and the upright bass fiddle. Most of all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, PawPaw, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Corrie Lianne Key.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years, Jackie Osborne Key of the home; son, Christian Shane Key and his wife, Becka of High Point; daughter, Emily Faith Key Jenkins and her husband Joshua of Pleasant Garden; three grandchildren, Julia Christian Key, Aleah Pearl Key, and Locke Brooklyn Key; sisters, Krystal Weeks and Cynthia Wilson and her husband Mark; brother, Timothy Key and his wife Cynthia; aunts, Ann Loflin and Donna Hollingsworth; and several nieces and nephews.
